Bedroom with a wooden four poster bed

Production designer Shruti Gupte styled a bedroom with a palatial look and feel. Featuring furniture, upholstery and lights from the House of Asian Paints

This bedroom is designed for someone who enjoys hints of luxury in their everyday life. It is designed around an individual who chooses high-end comfort. Production designer Shruti Gupte shows us how a simple bedroom can be transformed with just a few interesting choices. The overall colour palette has deep shades and hues making the space look rich. The choice of colours is an unusual combination of warm and cool in perfect balance.

The Furniture

The four-poster bed design from House of Asian Paints is a statement piece. This piece also sets the theme of the room. The bed has a magnificent structure but the clean linear lines make it sleek and adaptable for even a small room. The armchair on the other hand has a bulky form balancing the look of the bed. The ottoman in front of the armchair allows a seat for resting the feet. If you thought four-poster beds need a vast room then this set will disprove the idea.

The Fabrics

The fabrics stick to the colour palette and play with the textures instead. The upholstery on the armchair has a soft satin finish. The same fabric is seen on the bed in the form of cushions creating the perfect synergy. The upholstery on the ottoman has a softer textured cotton feel to it. The throw on the bed matches colours with the ottoman, but has a complete satin finish. The curtains are neutral in colour, with white and grey shades. For this bedroom design, Shruti has picked fabrics in such a way that they look married to each other yet have a difference in character. All of these have been taken from the Sabyasachi Mukherjee for Nilaya range.

Accessories and Lights

Two table lamps from the House of Asian Paints in the room stand as accent lights adding to the mood of the space. Both of which borrow fabrics from the Sabyasachi Mukherjee for Nilaya range adding drama to the lampshades. The one next to the bed plays a dual role of adding visual interest while also providing light to the reader. The one on the console is a part of the styled setting and balances the curation of items in the nook. In terms of accessories Shruti has chosen pieces that look opulent. The small details further add to the setting, completing the luxurious impression of the room.
